Server Controls
Restart or stop your Nitrado server directly from the Vigil dashboard.
What are server controls?
Server Controls let you restart or stop your Nitrado DayZ server directly from the Vigil dashboard — no need to log in to Nitrado separately.
The controls appear at the top of your server's dashboard page.
Available actions
Restart
Sends a restart command to your Nitrado server. The server will go through its normal shutdown and startup cycle. Players currently connected will be disconnected and can rejoin once the server is back online.
A confirmation dialog appears before the restart is sent to prevent accidental triggers.
Stop
Shuts down the Nitrado server completely. All players will be disconnected and the server will go offline. The server will not come back online automatically — you'll need to start it again from Nitrado's dashboard or trigger a new restart.
Stop is disabled when the server is already offline or in a transitional state.
Server status
The status indicator next to the controls shows the current state of your server:
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Online | Server is running and accepting connections |
| Offline | Server is stopped |
| Restarting | Server is in the middle of a restart cycle |
| Updating | Nitrado is applying an update |
| Stopping | Server is shutting down |
| Unknown | Status could not be determined |
The status updates every 5 seconds automatically.
Player count
Next to the server control card, a Players card shows how many players are currently connected out of your server's maximum capacity (e.g. 12 / 50).
Clicking the player count opens a side panel listing all currently online players by gamertag. This list is read directly from your server's live log file, so it reflects actual connections in real time.
Permissions
Only the server owner can use controls by default. If you've added team members to your dashboard, you can grant them control access from the member settings page.
Members without controls permission can still view the server status and player count, but the Restart and Stop buttons will be disabled for them.
